There are seven items of equipment to label on the space shuttle and rocket worksheets and eight parts to label on the spacesuit. The vocabulary list is included on each worksheet for pupil use and there is a small photograph of a real shuttle and rocket for pupils to make a comparison between a photo and a simplified diagram. This is a useful activity to assess pupil knowledge of key vocabulary at the end of a mini topic on Space, journeys, famous explorers, or Planets.

Theseus and the Minotaur Bundle Set of English topic related resources Theseus and the Minotaur Diary example with 24 KS2 comprehension questions. Set in pre 40AD, Theseus writes about his observations as he travels on his quest to slay the Minotaur. The diary is written in the first person and is separated into two main sections (Part 1: The quest to slay the Minotaur/ Part 2 : The return to Athens). Each part is broken into smaller, readable sections based upon location as Theseus travels through the myth. This recount demonstrates features of a diary and acts as a continuous recount of the event including Theseus’s personal feelings and points of view. Can be used as a stimulus for Myths and Legends, creative writing and to identify the features and structure of diary writing or as a Recount Checklist activity. Also attached are two sets of 12 comprehension questions relating to each of the two parts of the text. Comprehension Learning Objectives: I can respond to a range of texts. I can locate ideas and use information. I can refer to the text when explaining a view or reason. I can deduce and infer ideas from the text. I can select sentences or phrases to support my answers. Guided reading based on Theseus and the Minotaur with learning objective, suggested questions (7) and a simple chronological story activity. Learning Objective: I can retell the myth Theseus and the Minotaur. I can summarise the story. I wrote this shorter version of the myth for a Year four reading group but it could be used with HA Y3, LA Y5 and Y6. Fits well with cross curricular topic work on Ancient Greeks, Greece, Myths and Legends, Mythological beasts and narrative writing. Theseus and the Minotaur set of 4 English descriptive worksheets for LA/MA KS2. Learning Objective: I can use key words to describe mythological characters. Worksheet 1: Adjective selection from a prepared set of vocabulary to best describe questions about Theseus, the Minotaur and the labyrinth. Worksheet2: Noun, verb, adjective brainstorm to describe Ariadne, Athena, King Minos, Theseus, the Minotaur. Worksheet 3: Creating own mythological beast and adding verbs and adjectives. KS2 powerpoint lesson on the artist and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Series of 24 slides telling the story of his life and works. The slides are interactive and promote discussion within pairs and small groups. Pupils will learn the features of art nouveau/deco architecture and furniture design, identification of geometric shapes in designs, and use of images to create their own geometric pattern/design. Pupils will use the Mackintosh rose as a stimulus to create their own floral design and identify the features of Mackintosh’s watercolours through comparison of his most famous works. There is a link to a Youtube clip explaining how to paint with watercolours and the final activity is a research task to find out the auction price of some of Mackintosh’s works. Can be used as a whole lesson or series of lessons which lead into practical cross curricular activities.

A KS2 power-point of 19 slides which can be used as one lesson or extended over a longer period. Included are examples of 2 short horror stories (not too scary!) for pupils to use in the lesson to analyse against a Horror story features checklist. There are key questions to promote discussion and paired work. Also included is a simple planning and drafting grid. Pupils can use the grids to give paired feedback to improve their work prior to writing the final story. The lesson culminates in a spooky story reading presentation.

KS1 Years 1, 2 and 3 - A series of 5 consecutive power-point lessons about the sights of London (66 slides). Lesson 1 introduces London using the Union Flag as a starting point with learning focusing on the countries of Britain and the location of London. The pupils are encouraged to use a Project Book to record their journey through each lesson. Lesson 2 introduces some simple facts about London and focuses on Buckingham Palace. Pupils will create a simple comparative table which enables them to compare the Palace with their own homes, pose questions and draw conclusions. The lesson can be developed into Art/DT to design a flag. Lesson 3 focuses on the Changing of the Guard with a link to a short YouTube clip followed by a physical group activity. Lesson 4 recognition of London landmarks and a Maths measurement activity with trundle wheels linked to Big Ben. There is also a short activity to develop understanding of Roman Numerals. Lesson 5 London Transport and a Maths activity to devise the quickest routes on the Tube. This lesson includes an end of unit assessment to assess pupil knowledge through a task set by the Prime Minister. Each lesson offers clear steps for pupils to work in partners, small groups and individually. Each slide can be printed separately to enable pupils to have access to information tables and data. At the beginning of each lesson there is a short recap activity to assess learning from the previous lesson.
